As someone who lives in Kugelhopf-land (Strasbourg, France), it looks like it should, even if it is a little squatter than normal. :-) The loaf is supposed to be crusty and the bread itself is actually a little dry. And you got the classic TWD experience on your very first week! It's happened several times to me (and of course lots of times to others) that a recipe that really never would have "struck" me turns out to be a favorite. This one was that way at our house too! I pretty much make everything that's chosen,for just that reason. Nancy PS: I put in a heaping measure of raisins (+currants) also! The size of the pan really did seem to make a huge difference.
